Tree-D, Inc. manufactures economical, turnkey 3-D scanning and optimization systems for log bucking, log rotation, and primary breakdown. Their systems start with a line of rugged, reliable and accurate laser scanning sensors built by TDI Laser Measurement Systems, a division of Tree-D.  All TDI scanners can operate in the presence of sunlight, are unaffected by temperature and provide precise log measurement data to Tree-D’s optimization software to calculate a sawing solution.  In addition, they have successfully integrated their production reporting databases and real-time data with various manufacturing and monitoring systems to permit even better analysis of mill operations. 

Tree-D has recently added machine vision capability to their automatic log rotation systems. Based on targeting technology, this system tracks logs in the log turner and reports turning accuracy on the fly. No marking systems are required, and tracking is achieved using naturally occurring features present on the ends of logs.
